Yankton has 8 miles of paved and lighted trails throughout the city, with an additional twenty miles of trails leading to and along the scenic Lake Yankton and Lewis and Clark Lake. A multi-use trail for equestrian riders, hikers, and mountain bikers is located in the Gavins Point section of the Lewis & Clark State Recreation Area.

If you’d like to spend a warm summer day relaxing (or frolicking) at the pool, you can go to the city’s outdoor pool located at Fantle Memorial Park, located at 21st Street and Douglas Avenue. It’s the hub of activity during the summer months.
Swimmers are also fortunate to have a large indoor pool during the other months of the year, at the Summit Activities Center. The pool has many great features:
- Zero depth entry
- 110 foot waterslide
- Aquatic activities
- Fountain
- 7 lane lap area
Adult lap swim times, various water exercise classes, learn to swim programs (toddler through adult), lifeguard training, water safety instructor classes, and open swim are just a few of the many special programs offered. The Summit Center is at 1801 Summit, on the northwest side of town attached to the Yankton High School building. |
